role of performer- Elvis Presley

 Elvis Presley

Remembering the life and legacy of Elvis Presley – Orlando Sentinel

Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935. He was the only child due to his twin being a stillborn baby. In 1953, he and his parent moved to Memphis, Tennessee.

Elvis had many musical interests and tastes in country music, including pop, gospel music, and the black R&B music he had absorbed in Tennessee.

In 1954, Elvis started his singing career with the legendary Sun Records Label. About a year later, his contract was sold to RCA Victor.

Elvis is known for his talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma, and humor. He is one of the most influential figures in 20th-century popular culture. A few fun facts about him are that he has won three Grammys, has been in 33 successful films, and, at the young age of 36, he was named one of the ten most outstanding men in the nation in the 1970s by the United States Jaycees.

Elvis recorded over 600 songs while he was alive. His first song was My Happiness, recorded on the Sun Records Label.

My Happiness

Elvis's last song he ever recorded was He'll Have to go recorded on October 31, 1976

He'll have to go

Some of his favorite songs, or at least my top three, would have to be Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock and All Shook Up. He sang these very fun songs, and every time they played, I just wanted to get up and dance.

Elvis had many song writers, various styles he liked, and the beat of the song to who wrote it. The three favorite songs that he sang were The Hound Dog, which was written by Jerry Leiber; Jailhouse Rock, which was written by Mike Stoller; and the last of my favorites, All Shook Up, which was written by Otis Blackwell.

Here is a link to the top 20 hits on The songs Elvis has sung. If you are a fan of Elvis, I hope you enjoy some of these songs.  20 hits

  1. I wasn't aware of how many songs he made. I also didn't know he won 3 Grammy awards or how many films he was in so that was something new to learn. All Shook up is a good song. I know they did a movie on his life, and it was a pretty good movie as well.

  2. I had no idea that Elvis recorded over 600 songs throughout his life. Thats so crazy and wild for me to think about.. like thats a lot of songs! I also had no idea that he had won 3 Grammys, along with being in 33 films. I love listening to his music, especially if i'm feeling down or need some energy, his music is usually some to help!
